Un Jour Dans La Vie
Warning: i live my life kind of like an old lady
Morning
I wasn't really sure how to interpret the prompt, so I just took random pictures, like the ones someone would post to a blogging social media page. The first one is supposed to picture what I see in the morning when I wake up on the weekend(usually a little late). It's almost like a little showcase of all the things I've collected over middle school, and so far of high school. Next is my toothbrush and I kinda like how I used it to referenced our previous mirror project, also its lighting compared to the other two morning pictures is more mellow, like that drowsy feeling of walking to the bathroom first thing in the morning. I talk about lighting a lot because it's the main way I convey the mood of the picture. The brighter light that reflects off the tea kettle makes me think of that frantic burst of energy after the first cup of coffee or when you're running late and need to rush.
noon-time
I think the morning tea picture and its brightness contrast well with the noon calm tea time with its gray filtered sunlight and mildly eerie feel that saps the will to go do stuff. One would often rather play videogames in this type of overcast almost light twilight weather, hence the 3Ds which looks pretty nice against the blue and white of the blanket. Sometimes on these types of days, if I'm lucky, I'll be struck with the inspiration to draw or paint or make something. Usually it's something like sewing or painting or making a clay figure, but this time it was a drawing in a new sketchbook I've been meaning to use. It's on these types of days I can make my best art, it just seems to flow perfectly and I can make what I feel and make it fit with the world around. I think this picture might be one of my favorites.
Night-fall
Last but not least, nightfall. I wasn't sure how to properly portray the dark because doing so would mean not enough light so instead I turned what I like to call my "work" light. Unfortunately, the little lanterns above my bed no longer work so I'm stuck with my awkward and very bright ceiling light. It's the light I turn on when I have stuff I need to get done. It's bright, glaring, and loud. Reminds me of the sun except without the warmth. With the acidic green of my walls and the many conflicting colors of all of my posters, my room is pretty much like the perfect example of why color composition rules should exist, so naturally it's a headache to look at with this mini-sol on. Luckily the curtains and slats above my head protect me and create these cool looking faux-sunbeams and I decided to take pictures incorporating them. I'm a big fan of the Percy Jackson series and recently I've been reading Hero's of Olympus series. Reading is kind of a big part of who I am so not having a picture of a book would be taboo. I have to say though, I do think the bright light and the shadow do look very nice with the purple of the cover. Next is the dreaded homework. I hate weekend homework, but really who doesn't. I centered the laptop open on my dreaded AP Microeconomics homework and placed only blanket in frame. The light coming from the laptop screen is brighter than anything else, and being offset by the black computer frame, it catches your attention and holds it, sort of like how that one python from The Jungle Book hypnotizes Mowgli before he tries to eat him whole. The last picture is of a succulent plant I've confiscated(abducted) from my mother's care. She has been named Spinster because I think it sounds cool and I have no clue what that word means. Beloved Spinster the Sugar Skull Succulent has appeared before in my mirror project and thus far has become a crucial part of my every-day life with her providing of Oxygen and what-not. She is spiky and at the angle this picture was taken, her sugar skull looks to be scowling which is just a reflection of her standoffish nature. She fits perfectly into my day and, the way the faux-sunlight brings out my favorite shade of eggshell looking purple from her plant pot and then the way the lighted part of her greenery contrasts with it so well to make the colors mildly muted keeps all attention on my current aloe related roommate. These pictures were sort of meant to just take you on a little trip through my off school day and the veeeeeeery long summary was to explain my brain and the reasoning behind certain interactions and reason for the photo's composition. Thank you for reading all the way and I hope you liked my photos and explanations.
